Item Description
8.5x11" typed letter dated July 22, 1941 and addressed to J.S. Liebowitz (owner of Detective Comics, Inc.) has detailed list w/titles and payment amount including eight "Superman" stories totaling $3,605 and nine other stories including "Spectre, Star-Spangled Kid" and "Slam Bradley" totaling $283. Letter also mentions co-creator Joe Shuster, reading in part "Joe Needs Cash Immediately For Payroll Purposes." Letter has two "Paid" ink stamps initialed by Liebowitz w/number and date and a few other ink/pencil notes. Siegel has signed in ink. Two lt. horizontal folds as mailed, lt. aging. Top margin has staple impression. Fine appearance overall. Nicely detailed payment request from Superman's co-creator Jerry Siegel. Comes with Hake's COA.
