Item Description
Lot of two items. First is 10.5x16" sheet w/cereal box design at right in colored pencil, black/red crayon, some text in white paint. Main text reads "Free Of Extra Cost In This Package Roy Rogers 3-D Life-Like Pictures With 3-D Viewer" plus rough image of Roy at upper right just above image of children holding viewer and card w/text "Like Seeing Roy Rogers In Person!" Just below image is lead pencil text "Back Of Package." Penciled design notes at left includes list of three different images to show on different sets "1 Triggers Tricks, 2 Scenes From Roy's New Paramount Movie 'Covered Wagon,' 3 Thrilling Western Scenes." Sheet has vertical crease at center as designed, lt. handling creases, upper left corner of box area has tiny hole and upper right bkg. area of sheet has lt. foxing. Art image area is Fine. Second item is 10-3/8x12" artboard w/applied sheet at center having colored pencil design w/boy wearing 3D glasses and "See This In 3-D" text plus sketches of four cards coming out of "Post's Sugar Crisp" box and text at left "Roy Rogers Three Dimension Pictures Free Of Extra Cost 4 Pictures In Every Package!" Left/right sides have lead/blue pencil design notes. Center area has scattered tanning from glue, a few lt. hairline surface paper ripples. VG. Actual premium was issued in 1953, see next item #2274. Unique pair. This is a file copy from the archives of premium creators Sam & Gordon Gold accompanied by a letter to that effect signed by Gordon Gold.
