Item Description
Published in "Mad" #206 in April, 1979. Story was written by Donald "Duck" Ewing. Thin artboards are each 18.75x25.25" w/India ink image areas ranging from 15.5x19" to 17.25x23.25". Most panels have nice grey wash accent bkgs. Tarzan is in total of 24 of 27 panels. Storyline has Tarzan being stymied but trying to adjust to modern civilization. Numerous gags include crashing to ground after trees are cut down by "Congo Lumber Co.", fighting w/lion and getting arrested near "Endangered Species" sign, putting up TV antenna on treehouse, giving Tarzan yell in psychiatrist's office, leaping toward vine which is actually McDonald's arch, Jane getting Tarzan to wear suit to work, using deodorant, swinging on vine into hook at construction site, riding elephant and crashing into low bridge, diving into lake which turns out to be Tanzania water project, being told by Jane to take out garbage which he dumps into huge pile outside treehouse. Each page has been signed in ink by Jack Davis and comes w/individual 4x6" color photos of him signing each page. Margins have usual editorial notes, a few areas of printed text in word balloons have lt. aging, but pages will mat and frame to Exc./NM appearance. Superb graphics throughout.
