Item Description
Cover design for "Mad" magazine #213, published March, 1980. 16.25x18.5" wood frame w/Plexiglas over archival mat reveals 7-7/8x10.25" ink and watercolor image area showing Alfred E. Neuman skating on ice but wearing roller skates and helmet as he glides towards viewer as people in bkg. fall down. Logo area is cut-out printed paste-up from issue #210 used for spacing purposes, w/left skate heel at bottom of logo being hand-drawn. Lower right has been signed in ink by Jack Davis and comes w/pair of 4x6" color photos of the artist in his studio holding and signing the original. Logo has glue stains, but 95% of image area is Exc. Ready for display. The final printed cover had Neuman wearing football helmet. Nice example of Davis' preliminary art.
