Item Description
11x14" mat w/7.75x10" opening has glossy photo of noted sci-fi author Ray Bradbury (1920-2012) standing at his desk, surrounded by a myriad of Science-Fiction tropes, including a rocket, robot, Space Shuttle model and numerous pens/pencils and two Looney Tunes figures. Photo has been boldly inscribed in black felt tip pen "For Shel Dorf! From One Comics Lover To Another! Ray Bradbury." Bradbury has added "March 20, '94" date at upper right. Comic strip and comic arts fan Shel Dorf (1933-2009) took over the "Detroit Triple Fan Fair" convention w/Jerry Bails in the late 1960s, moving to San Diego in 1970, putting on a small convention w/friends. That small convention eventually grew into "Comic-Con International," attracting tens of thousands every year. Dorf also lettered Milton Caniff's "Steve Canyon" comic strip from 1977 to 1988. Left margin has 4.25" streak of photo emulsion missing, only .25" area slightly affecting image, but not any part of inscription/signature. Displays VF as matted. A unique Bradbury-signed item. From the Charlie Roberts Collection. Comes with Hake's COA.
