Item Description
Lot of seven 3.75" tall handled glazed pottery beer mugs by Buffalo Pottery, c. 1910-1920. These scarce novelty mugs feature humorous illustrations promoting the virtues of alcohol consumption. Each mug has different one word slogan and accompanying illustration. These include - "Expectation" w/carpenter looking at beer, "Vacation" w/men standing around beer keg w/mugs in hands, "Meditation" w/pastor signalling for one beer (marked w/"Prosit" toast), "Lubrication" w/man leaving work to have beer at bar, "Inspiration" w/artist painting still life of beer bottle and glass, "Acceleration" showing group in car speeding towards bartender standing outside "Lager Beer" bar doorway, "Celebration" w/family toasting father on birthday. Mugs have typical all over crazing and scattered lt. wear to text/illustrations. "Lubrication" mug has repair to hairline crack on handle. VG. Rest are Fine-VF overall.
