Item Description
18.5x22.5" ornate frame (w/"Amigo By Red Skelton" engraved name plaque) contains high quality canvas transfer print that gives the appearance of the original painting's texture. Art was created by comic actor Red Skelton in 1984 and is titled "Amigo" and features a jolly clown similar in appearance to Skelton's Freddie the Freeloader bum clown character, only wearing a festive sombrero and colorful serape. Skelton began painting in the 1940s, often focusing on clowns. In addition to his originals, Skelton also sold reproductions and prints through his own mail-order business. At the time of his death, Skelton had produced over 1,000 oil paintings of clowns. Skelton has signed this print beside his printed signature on the art in black felt tip pen. In addition, the canvas back has also been signed by Skelton in black felt tip pen and bears stamp of his mail-order business. Limited edition has been hand-numbered "129/2,000" on back canvas. Exc.
