Item Description
First is brass 15/16" token listed as DeWitt 1840-43. Small hole at top for suspension and with only light wear to the details. Front has his portrait, name and date of birth while reverse shows paddle wheel boat flying "1841" flag with surrounding text "Steam Boat Van Buren For Salt River Direct/Loco-Foco Line." The token was cleaned at some point but is very attractive. Next is a .5" convex brass clothing button displaying log cabin with smoke coming from the chimney on the front while the reverse is complete with its shank. Second is larger brass clothing button .75" in diameter. Log cabin includes smoke, flag on pole and cider barrel in the foreground. Tin reverse is stamped "Extra Rich." Both buttons have NM original luster. Julie Powell Collection.
