Item Description
This piece features a thick 3/16" planchet and is 1-5/16" diameter. Front has high relief bust along with his name while on the raised shoulder edge is tiny text naming the die-sinker "Lovett" of New York. Reverse has wreath design and shows implements of war including a drum, quiver, helmet, shield and flag. The inscription in Latin reads "Nec Querere/Nec Spernere/Honorem." DeWitt notes this was originally a Civil War medal and that it also received distribution during the 1864 Presidential campaign. NM. Don & Mildred Wright Collection.
