Item Description
1-15/16" tall when open. Reverse has rectangular metal compartment with vertical stickpin and text "Pat. Apl'd For/S.P. Co. 53 Bway N.Y." Brass loop at compartment bottom attaches to a string that pulls down and forward to lock and conceal the die-cut brass letters spelling "McKinley" behind a superbly colored all celluloid bow and ribbon design. Nudging the brass tab back with a finger releases the catch and "McKinley" pops up above the celluloid. The combined use of celluloid and metal to form a mechanical is rarely seen, and as far as we know, this is the one surviving example of this design. Essentially Mint.
