The bicycle craze in 1896 was reflected by a number of 1896 campaign items. This mechanical pin is among the best and rarest. 1-1/8" tall by 1-3/16" wide, it consists of photographic paper showing Ohio GOP boss "Hanna" with McKinley and Hobart jugate photos as the bicycle wheels and the slogan "Warranted For 4 Years." Hanna's upper body moves up and down when pressure is applied by a finger. Where the moveable upper body meets the stationary lower body at the waist, there is a narrow sliver of loose paper but it remains complete unlike is so often the case with this item.
