Item Description
3" wide rectangular button with bright brass luster reverse and bar pin. A tiny gap at each of the four reverse corners as is normal for this type of button. Front has very light tan age primarily around the perimeter. Button has his photo and his statement about the Capitalist system and Capitalists being bloodsuckers. Bottom edge has text "Malcolm X 12/20/64." He was assassinated about two months later on Feb. 21, 1965. Other than the 1965 memorial button in following lot, this is the earliest button for him that we are aware of. Rare.
