Item Description
Original cardboard box w/illustrated paper lid label contains 4.75x6.5x1.5" tall tin litho base w/4.5" tall celluloid figure of girl (holding sailboat) seated in tin litho rocking chair. A celluloid duck and three-legged stool w/wire post are on either side of her, the post holds 5" dia. celluloid umbrella that has four attached celluloid accent balls. When umbrella is in place, toy has total height of 9". "Best-Maid" toy made in Japan, 1930s. Box shows moderate wear w/heavy aging/dust soiling to lid label. Box retains its shape. VG overall. Toy comes w/key and when wound, works well; duck revolves as quacking noise is produced, girl rocks in chair as her jointed head nods and umbrella revolves. Toy has some scattered wear to edges of base and scattered dust soiling/aging to celluloid parts. Fine overall. Great design.
