Auction #213 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 1062 in auction 213
Item Description
First two are 1". The first with W&H paper and the second with Bastian paper. The third item is 7/8" with St. Louis Button Co. paper. First button is c.1930 with text "The Binghamton Press/Clean Sports/I Am In The Marble Contest Are You?" Surface is covered in scratches but most are very light with just a vertical at the left showing from most angles. No stain. Second reads "Springfield Union/Marble Contest" and is a great rarity in that it actually pictures a glass marble with swirls. Top half has numerous craze lines although barely seen without magnification. Totally clean. Probably the earliest we've seen for a marble contest button. Last reads "Star-Times Marble Tournament/Player/1940." Small bit of tone on the left was dirt now removed and button displays Mint.
