Item Description
First is 1.25" with back paper by W&H used only in this 1898 year. This fan oriented button shows a large hog with text and date above and below "St. Joseph 1898 Rooters." Rest of the text reads "Are We In It?/Watch Us." Button was issued for the St. Joseph Saints part of the eight team Western Association League. Button has a few age dots along the top edge and a very faint one just above the hog's back. Nice gloss and almost no surface wear. Second is 1.75" with W&H paper. 1" streak with surface oxidation on the collet but no stain and button displays Mint. Graphic shows baseball surrounded by a diamond and includes 1938 date. Slogan on rims are "Old Time Ball Player/'We Still Play Together'". Button surface is a hair concave as made. The first is rare and the second is the first we've seen.
