Item Description
Here are a pair of rare items from the Paul Muchinsky Collection. On the first, without hanger, the ribbon reads "Base Ball./Detroit Aldermen/Vs. Cleveland Councilmen/July 15 '03." Small bit of fabric missing from the very top and a couple of dots off the left edge. Brass ring suspends 2" celluloid showing "Flag Of The City Of Cleveland." Reverse has another sheet of celluloid showing the "The Great Seal Of The State Of Ohio." This side has a pair of 3/8" cello splits along the collet with one of these continuing with a pair of 1/8" splits to the side edge of the piece but showing very little from the front which displays bright and clean. Second item has brass encased hanger bar with the word "Cleveland." Reverse has both a pin and a brass rod that originally held the top edge of the crossed fabric ribbons although each top edge is fully split so they would need a repair in order to hang as they once did. Further down the ribbon is another brass piece enclosing a celluloid inscribed "Detroit." Small trace of tan stain on upper and lower edges. Left ribbon is intact and reads "Detroit Councilmen Vs. Detroit Aldermen." The right ribbon has significant splits on the upper left and just below that on the right although the fabric does remain intact. Gold lettering on this fabric reads "Base Ball Game At Cleveland, August 24, 1904." Ribbons have some tanning and dustiness but all lettering remains quite clear. These are single day locally issued rarities. Paul Muchinsky Collection.
