Item Description
First is 1.25" with concave metal back and fixed horizontal pin. Metal back is stamped with May 31 1898 patent date and name of Chicago maker Parisian Novelty. This is the earliest item we recall seeing from this firm. The full color cello has brown stain over his portrait but light in tone and the piece still displays well although extreme left edge is missing a 1/8" flake of celluloid seen slightly from the front view. Second item is 4.5" long with a hanger reading "Remember The Maine Feb. 15, 1898." This holds a ribbon upon which are inserted four separate brass rectangles each naming a battle with its 1898 date. Battle names are Manilla, Santiago, Puerto Rico, Protocol. Tiny wear on the bottom right ribbon tip but otherwise essentially Mint as issued and the only example we have seen. A rare pair.
