Item Description
3-3/8x5-3/8". Nice image of him in coat and hat with a large house in the bkg. Reverse has penciled text in Spanish (and appears done long ago if not even at time the postcard was printed) noting his debut with the Cincinnati Red in 1911 of which time period this card dates to. Marsans played winter baseball in the Cuban League from 1905 to 1928 and was a Major League outfielder from 1911 to 1918. He played with the Cincinnati Reds from 1911 to 1914, the St. Louis Terriers from 1914 to 1915, and with the St. Louis Browns and New York Yankees between 1916 and 1918. He was one of ten players inducted into the Cuban Baseball HOF in its 1939 inaugural class. Two tiny 1/16" insect holes have been filled in/touched up at left, one on his coat and one on the bkg. These now blend. Three 1" creases and other lt. handling wear. Noticeable aging to reverse. Image remains bold and sharp. Displays VG. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
