Item Description
Large 26.75x37.75" frame contains signed and numbered print that has been professionally and attractively double-matted to 16.75x27.75". Originally painted in 1996, print depicts a battle of the Ft. Donelson Campaign on Feb. 13, 1862, the Confederate-American 10th Tennessee is seen firing from behind a fence, the personal banner of Lt. Col. Randal W. McGavock (seen on horseback) flows in bkg. while the regimental flags flies in foreground. Both flags are depicted in green and gold as they appeared on the battlefield and print has been double-matted in complementary colors. Print was part of a limited edition of 1,750, this being hand-numbered "863/1750" at lower right corner, under the artist's signature. Kunstler is an American artist known for his illustrative paintings of the American Civil War. He is also known for earlier commercial illustration before turning to Civil War themes in the early 1980s, a body of work that dealt with America's national story; from portraits of prehistoric life to the odyssey of the Space Shuttle. His work has also been published in books, magazines and has been used by advertising agencies. Frame has some scuffs along left but as framed, print displays NM. See following items #996-998.
