Item Description
9x18.5x2" deep cardboard box w/illustrated lid contains "A Complete Electric Outfit For Casting And Coloring The Famous Dick Tracy Characters." Set No. 90 by Allied Mfg. Co. of Chicago, IL. c. 1940s. Contains "Dick Tracy Electric Stove And Metal Ladle"; clamp; two handles; brush. Set is missing mold for three Dick Tracy figures but comes w/rare two-piece Lone Ranger mold that was to be ordered separately and was not issued as part of any boxed set. Only the second example of this rare set we've seen in our 48 years. Set is also missing candle, paint, set of six bars of casting metal and three finished cast figures of Chief Brandon. Box lid is very bright and colorful w/comic panel illustrations of Dick Tracy and Dick Tracy Junior using set. Box lid has some scattered dust soiling and scattered edge/corner tip wear but remains tight and Fine overall. Contents show wear from use but molds are VF/Exc. Comes w/8.5x11" "Dick Tracy's Casting News" four-page newsletter explaining features/benefits of the casting set. Inside page pictures two boxed Dick Tracy sets. Another page shows extra molds that could be ordered including - The Lone Ranger as mentioned above. Overall surface dust soiling and handling wear. Fine.
