Item Description
Set of five from a numbered series released by Takara Toys in the early 1980s and given out as part of a Lucky Draw campaign in Japan. Cards come in original plain plastic bag, original tape having aged and loosened, allowing for cards to be inspected. "Diaclone" was a Takara toyline launched in 1980. It consisted of transforming vehicles and robots piloted by miniature, magnet-shoed figures spun off from the prior "Microman" toyline. In 1982, the line later featured the "Car-Robots" set of transforming robot toys. While the original series featured fanciful robots and vehicles, "Car-Robots" added the feature of the robots being able to disguise themselves as various late 20th Century-era contemporary vehicles. In 1984, Hasbro licensed the "Car-Robots" toyline along w/the "Microman Micro Change" toyline from Takara and merged the two series of toys to create the "Transformers." Offered here are card numbers 1-2, 7, 14, 16, featuring two different transforming trains referred to as "Train Robo, Fairlady Z 280Z T-Barroof, Polsche 935 Turbo" and "Ligier JS11 Ford F-1." Each card measures 2-3/8x3.5" and features images of the characters in their robot forms w/images of them in vehicle form on front or back w/stats (text in Japanese). Cards are Mint as issued.
