Item Description
15.5x27-1/8" thin artboard features original pen and ink art by popular modern concert poster artist Stainboy. Art depicts the members of stoner rock band Queens of the Stone Age falling from the clutches of a giant robot and is entitled "Freasbot." Art is a riff on the cover art to Queen's 1977 LP "News Of The World," which in itself was a riff on a 1953 "Astounding Science Fiction" magazine cover by Frank Kelly Freas, hence Stainboy's title for this art. Stainboy has signed at lower right in black ink, adding "'07" behind his signature for 2007. Upper left has some lt. handling wear but art is o/w Exc. Comes w/Stainboy signed COA for this art, mentioning concert art was created for, the Carnegie Music Hall in Pittsburgh, PA. on Sept. 28, 2007. Lot also includes a signed artist's proof of the final concert poster featuring this art. Stainboy has also signed this at lower right in pencil and poster has been hand-numbered "A/P 7/22." NM. An exceptional piece of art by one of today's most prolific poster artists, complete w/the finished product it was created for.
