Item Description
1x1.5" highly decorated Art Deco style silver luster case watch w/original 12 metal link band w/clasp by Benrus, 1929. This pre-dates the much more common Exacta Time watch (issued 1949) by 20 years. Watch was issued at the then exorbitant price of $39.75 (equivalent to over $500 today). By comparison, the classic Mickey Mouse watches of the 1930s were sold for under $3. This high price point hurt the watch's sales, which is the leading reason it is so rare. Case retains full luster. Dial features small facsimile "Babe Ruth" signature at top and additional "Shock Proof - U.S.A." text. Dial shows moderate wear at edges but facsimile signature remains distinct. Dial displays VG. Missing minute hand and overwound. Among the rarest personality watches and the first we've offered in our 48 years.
