Item Description
9.75x12" nitrate sheet contains original hand-painted black and white (and gray) art measuring 3x4-3/8" depicting full body image of Mickey Mouse in cowboy gear on one knee, a gun in each hand. Art was produced for the Mickey Mouse animated short "Two-Gun Mickey" that was released Dec. 15, 1934. As to be expected for a nitrate cel of this age, there is trace ink and paint lifting, and rippling to sheet. Art image is o/w 99% complete and still presents well. There were 74 black and white Mickey Mouse cartoons produced from 1928 to 1935 and from those, only about 50 animation cels in total remain. For "Two-Gun Mickey," we know of only a few remaining cels from this cartoon, this example was obtained by our consignor as a child in the 1950s and is new to the collecting community. This is the final of three production film cels in his collection, w/two previously offered in our last auction, where each sold in excess of $11,000. Exceedingly rare and historic Disney animation art.
