Item Description
This gun and holster set was offered as a premium through Cheerios in the 1940s. Set included double "Texan Jr." cap gun and holster set for $2.95 and one box top. Comes w/complete and assembled 8.5" tall 7 oz. size Cheerios box w/back panel offer for gun/holster set offered here as well as an additional offer for a Lone Ranger shirt and combination mask-tie for $2 and box top. Box is aged and shows wear w/several creases but still displays nicely as shrink-wrapped. Gun/holster set comes in 11.5x12.75x2" deep generic cardboard shipping box. Box has no mailing label and shows lt. shelf wear. VF. Box contains complete set in unused/unfired condition. Set comes w/printed slip from General Mills, Inc. noting change in set as advertised. Instead of steel bullets, war efforts forced bullets to be constructed from painted wood. Sheet has moderate margin aging w/small spot of insect damage at corner. Fine. 32.5" long leather belt has stamped leather pad at center w/"Lone Ranger name and two metal bullet loops containing complete amount of six 1.25" long wooden bullets. Belt has some lt. aging but is Exc. overall. Belt comes w/separate pair of 10" long leather holster pockets w/leather belts loops and long vinyl gimp attached. Holsters have elaborate metal accent studs (which show aging/oxidation) and three plastic accent stones each. Fine/VF. Pair of 8.5" long nickel-plated die-cast cap guns by Kilgore have raised "Texan Jr." name under bullet chambers and red star medallion on ivory plastic steerhead grips. Grips have shrank a bit w/age, w/one having partially popped loose at top. Guns have slight aging as boxed over the years but are bright and clean w/much bright luster. VF overall. Very rare premium set, one of only a few we've offered over our 48 years and the only boxed example complete w/paper (which is the first example we've seen).
