Item Description
8.25x11.75x15.25" tall w/dark wood cabinet. Stand-out feature is cast metal plate w/high relief design attached to the front of the frame in front of the original intact speaker cloth. This features an image of Mickey Mouse playing one-stringed instrument as part of a scene that includes city buildings and anthropomorphic moon in the sky. Raised "Mickey" name at base of plate. Radio dial w/celluloid cover and metal frame below, w/celluloid marked "Mickey Radio" along w/having two small full body images of Mickey, one reading script while other holds radio microphone. Larger Mickey portrait image at center of dial, partly obscured by tuning arms. Below dial are the five original knobs, w/"Mickey" name engraved in wood surface at lower left. Wooden back has large "Mickey Radio" name cut out of it, allowing for viewing of radio's internal components. Cabinet has small trace of wear, mostly along edges including a minor 1.25" hairline on back at middle of "Mickey" name. All original/complete and in working order but w/foreign plug. VF overall. In our Feb., 2011 auction, we offered a radio similar to this one that sold for $2,945 but that example was not as Mickey-centric, this example being more detailed and more impressive overall as such. An incredibly rare radio, the only example we have seen in our 48 years. A must have for collectors of Disneyana and vintage radios. From the Doug & Pat Wengel Collection.
