41.5x79" three-sheet poster for original release of the 1939 MGM Tarzan film, the fourth to star Johnny Weismuller in the titular role of Tarzan. Film also starred Maureen O'Sullivan as Jane and introduced Johnny Sheffield as Boy. Poster was printed by Tooker Litho of New York. Nice graphics include large images of Tarzan and Boy standing on elephant's head while Jane looks down on them from tree branch at upper left. Poster was issued in two pieces, w/top third being slightly off-center as printed, but graphics/text line up. Some restoration/color touch-ups visible along line where two pieces join. Poster has horizontal and vertical folds as issued w/scattered color touch-ups along fold lines/fold crease intersections. Hairline scratch across first few letters of Weissmuller's last name. White bkg. area above elephant's head has visible restoration at lower right. Majority of image areas are free of restoration. VG overall, but main image area retains bright, bold color and would mat and frame for a nice display as linen-mounted. Rare and first we've offered in our 48 years.
