Item Description
Published in "Mad" #258 in Oct. 1985. Story was written by Stan Hart. Five 18.5x23-3/8" thin artboards w/India ink image areas. "The Goofies" story satirized the popular 1985 film "The Goonies," from a story by executive producer Steven Spielberg. First page has The Goofies, each wearing shirt w/letter spelling out "Goofies." Andy character wears shirt w/Alfred E. Neuman's face dotting the "I" on her shirt. Each character introduces themselves and the political incorrectness of the film is noted. Second page features five panels and shows police chase, children lamenting forthcoming eviction of their parents and humorous Pepsi product placement. Third page features six panels and shows boys discovering treasure map and racing off on bicycles, which one character compares to "E.T." The Goofies arrive at The Fratellis restaurant. Fourth page features six panels and shows Goofies falling through booby-traps and "Chunk" character meeting Sloth. "Raiders Of The Lost Ark" is mentioned as group runs from boulders. Last page has six panels and shows the Goofies discovering pirate treasure only to be captured by The Fratellis. Sloth swings in wearing Superman shirt to rescue group and Fratellis are captured. Each page has blue felt tip pen note at bottom left w/issue/page number/title notes. Each page has also been signed in ink by Jack Davis at bottom center and comes w/individual 4x6" color photos of him signing each page. Margins have typical editorial notes, a few areas of printed text in word balloons have lt. aging, but pages will mat and frame to Exc./NM appearance. Superb graphics throughout.
