Item Description
The five larger medals are each 1-1/16” while the Lincoln is .75” and the Grant ferrotype is 7/8”. First is Filmore 1856-5. Front has his portrait, name and slogan while reverse shows eagle with “31 S” below. Slight smoothing of the front details and two faint scratches on the reverse. Next is Fremont 1856-9. Design matches the previous Filmore except on the reverse the slogan around the eagle is “United States Of America” with no additional text. Exc. Next is Lincoln 1864-67. Front has his portrait and name and includes “For President” while reverse has Johnson portrait and name and text “For Vice President.” VF. Next is Seymour 1868-8. Front has portrait and name while reverse shows a scroll with text “Democratic Candidate For President Of The United States.” NM. Next is jugate showing “Seymour & Blair 1868.” This is Seymour 1868-7 with reverse slogan “General Amnesty, Uniform Currency, Equal Taxes & Equal Rights.” NM with much luster. Next is Grant ferrotype unlisted in Hake but similar to Hake #3081. Also see item #178. The reverse horizontal pin is missing and the brass frame featuring circular designs has lost its bright luster but the ferrotype itself is NM showing him with his name above. Last is Grant 1868-30. This classic medal has his name, portrait and “1868” date on the front while reverse has his famous slogan “I Propose To Fight It Out On This Line/If It Takes All Summer.” Exc. A nice group.
