This is a rare variety of Hake #3044. The piece is 1-1/8” with a pin on the reverse and with a fabric rosette backing 2-3/8” in diameter. The rosette is in excellent condition with just a tiny bit of material off the end of one blue fabric segment. The pin has a raised and beveled brass luster outer edge. Normally, the center of this piece is also finished in brass luster but on this rare variety the background has silver flashing, now darker due to tarnish. There are groups of stars above and below the vertical rectangular frames surrounding each ferrotype with each man’s name above. The ferrotypes and the rest of the pin are NM.
