Item Description
24.5x31-3/8" wooden frame contains original painting of Gene Autry w/Champion by Al Corbett. Image was taken from a popular photo image of Autry and his horse (as evidenced by included vintage scrapbook clipping). Photo also comes w/three vintage 1940s snapshots, one showing Autry w/this painting, another showing him posing w/young fan in front of painting and third showing Autry w/owner of the Film Exchange in Pittsburgh, PA, to whom Autry presented this painting. Upon being presented w/the painting, the man asked if Autry would autograph it. Realizing a regular pen or pencil would not suffice, Autry asked to borrow the man's wife's lipstick, boldly signed lower right w/14.75" wide signature. Painting and signature display Exc. A truly one-of-a-kind Gene Autry item and probably one of the largest signatures he ever gave. Great history/story for this 1940s lot. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
