Item Description
Hake #3239. 1.25” with Baltimore Badge back paper although the paper is covered in very dark tan stain. The celluloid has lightly toned cream areas but no traces of any stain. However there is a pair of tiny scratches, just deep enough to call a cut, but generally seen only in reflected light. One is 1/8” long to the left of his hair and the other is 1/8” long to the left of his shirt collar at the left. The button still has wonderful color and features full figure elephant holding a drum stick with his trunk and one leg resting on the top of a large red bass drum which displays oval photo of TR at its center. There are repins of this button but this is the original from 1904. The Hake 2004 guide value is $1250. This button has a much lower opening bid due to the small condition factors but it still displays NM. Don & Mildred Wright Collection.
