Item Description
5.25x7-5/8" hardcover Photoplay Edition w/345 pages. Written by Tarzan creator Edgar Rice Burroughs, this is the ninth in his series of Tarzan books and was first published in 1923 by Grosset & Dunlap in conjunction w/release of the 1927 silent film "Tarzan And The Golden Lion." Shortly after publication, there was a dinner banquet to celebrate the publication of the book and commemorating the film in which many important people involved w/production of film signed interior frontispiece. Signatures include - publishers Alexander Grosset, George T. Dunlap, Executive Producer (and father of future president John F. Kennedy) Joseph P. Kennedy, Film Booking Offices of America Vice President Joseph I. Schnitzer, Tarzan creator/author Edgar Rice Burroughs, film producer Edwin C. King, James H. Pierce (Tarzan), film director J.P. McGowan, Frederick Peters (Estaban Miranda), D'Arcy D. Corrigan (Weesimbo), Boris Karloff (Owaza in one of his early film roles), Robert Bolder (John Peebles), technical director Major F.J. Franklin, Harold R. Goodwin (Jack Bradley) and two others. Book features four photos from film. Comes w/original dustjacket which shows lt. wear/aging to spine w/margin wear, two .5" tears to top front cover. VF. Book itself has slightest warp to front cover but is Exc. overall w/NM pages. Signature page remains clean and all signatures are bold. A great collection of important signatures related to a long thought lost Tarzan film. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
