Item Description
Art board has 12-3/8x18” image area drawn in Wolff pencil w/woman in center of crowded room talking to soldiers. Art is signed in white paint “R. Van Buren- 24” at lower left. Reverse side has attached “Saturday Evening Post” copyright paper. Blank margins have mounting traces from mat removal, image area will mat and frame to Exc. appearance. Van Buren (1891-1987) was a popular illustrator who left the field to draw the “Abbie An’ Slats” comic strip created by Al Capp. He drew the strip from 1937 to 1971. Superb example by one of the founding members of the “Society of Illustrators”. From the Schechter Family Collection.
