Item Description
Published in 1911 by Charles Scribner’s Sons in “Society Of Illustrator’s” book. Thin art board has 7-3/8x7.5” India ink image area w/well-dressed determined looking man riding through slop on back of large pig in star filled night. Signed in ink “Young” at lower right. Art board is attached to larger board which has edge wear, but image area will frame to near Exc. appearance. Art Young (1866-1943) worked for many magazines, but is most noted for his socialist views involving capitalist pigs for “The Masses” between 1911 and 1917. A prime, well-drawn example.
