Lot of six 5.5x8.25" hardcovers collecting pre-national, New York area editions. First national "TV Guide" was issued for week of April 3-9, 1953. These bound volumes comprise 128 consecutive issues that were issued between Oct. 7, 1950 (Vol. 3 #40) and April 2, 1953 (Vol. 6 #13), running right up until national publication took over. Some covers are unique to the NY. editions; covers of note include - Groucho Marx (2), Lucille Ball (2), Roy Rogers (2), Howdy Doody (3), Gene Autry, Jackie Gleason (3), Milton Berle, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis, space shows and baseball stars w/Jackie Robinson, Joe DiMaggio. Of note, one cover features Marilyn Monroe, her first "TV Guide" cover. This issue is much sought after and typically sells for $200 to $500 on its own. While hardcovers show some lt. shelf wear, issues are Exc. as bound. An instant collection, filled w/TV history.
