Item Description
Original 7x10.25" nice quality matte finish silver gelatin photo showing team in uniforms posed on a ball field w/a few spectators in the seats behind them. Reverse has ink stamp "Foto Ramirez" and inked text "Club Mexico 1948." The key player included on this photo is Leon Day, seated in the middle row second from the right. Day had a storied career in the Negro Leagues where he was a seven-time All-Star and 1946 World Series champion. He was inducted into the National Baseball HOF in 1995. Also pictured is Silvio Garcia, among the other teams he played for were the New York Cubans of the Negro National League and he is a Cuban Baseball HOF member. Two other players of note are Booker McDaniels who also played for the KC Monarchs from 1940-1946 and Roberto Ortiz who played in the Majors for the Washington Senators & Philadelphia A's. Lt. handling wear w/a few faint creases. There are two tiny 1/8" insect holes only noticeable upon close inspection and not impacting any of the images. Fine. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
