Item Description
11.5x12.25x23" tall. 1949. Mechanical steel candy machine w/narrow glass window in the front. Three sides have illustrations of Dogpatch characters including - Li'l Abner, Daisy Mae, Mammy Yokum, Pappy Yokum and Shmoo. Machine offered four vending choices - "Daisy Mae Raisins (California Seedless Raisins), Li'l Abner Goobers (Selected Spanish Peanuts), Mammy Yokum Craws (Delicious Caramels), Pappy Yokum Delight (???????)." Appears to work, but no product is included. No key but easily replaced. Illustrations are slightly darkened w/age, but remain strong. Lower right corner (at Shmoo area) has 1x4.5" streak of oxidation and top of machine shows moderate paint wear w/streaks of bare metal showing. Left side has .5x2" area of heavy oxidation at rear bottom and back edge has 1.5" area w/dent at corner and shallow dent surrounding it. VG/Fine overall. A fun piece to add to a comic character display. Due to size and weight, the shipping charges (depending on location and method of shipping) may be substantial.
