Item Description
21.75x28.75" artboard (pieced together from two pieces, w/paper tape/tape reinforcement on reverse) has original pen and ink art (w/some preliminary blue pencil art visible in spots) for March 31, 1946 Sunday page by co-creator and artist Fred Harman. Nine panel story features Red Ryder sneaking up on two men having shoot-out over "Satchel Of Robbery Loot." The recently saved Little Beaver and his companions cause distraction by throwing rocks at bandits, allowing Red Ryder to get the jump on one of them. The other bandit aims his rifle at Red Ryder, but is too slow and Red Ryder shoots him. Bottom of artboard has "Little Beaver" section w/illustration of the character pointing illustrated "Book Plate" designed to be cut out of newspaper and pasted into book. Red Ryder appears in six panels and Little Beaver appears in two (as well as at bottom). First panel has Harman's name in white ink and also features trademark paste-over strip. Second to last panel has copyright paste-over strip. Margins have inked printer's centering notations and scattered editorial notations, but art remains clean and Exc.
