Item Description
8.75x10.5x3" deep original but generic box contains complete 11-piece, four-serving set. Made in Occupied Japan, 1950s. Box complete w/foil-covered insert. Moderate scattered box wear w/all lid corners split and missing 1.25" piece off at one corner and .5" piece off at another corner. Box bottom has one corner split. VG. Set consists of four 2" dia. by 1-1/8" tall handled cups w/3-3/8" dia. saucers, 1.75" tall creamer, 2-3/8" tall sugar (w/lid) and 3.25" tall teapot (w/lid). Cups feature same Mickey Mouse image as does sugar. Minnie Mouse is featured on saucers and creamer. Both images (Mickey is slightly larger) appear on teapot. All feature same multiple stars decoration. Set is glossy and Exc. Whereas most sets produced in Occupied Japan at this time were smaller in scale, this rare set is much more grand in scale, similar to the sets produced in the 1930s. Doug & Pat Wengel Collection.
