Item Description
Pair of newsprint theater heralds, each for original release of their respective sci-fi film. 1951's "The Day The Earth Stood Still" is printed in style of "World News" newspaper measuring 11.5x15.75" and opens to 15.75x22.75". Front page and interior pages are printed w/newspaper style promo articles (some playing up the threat level and imminent invasion) and top quarter of back features classic 24-sheet movie poster art. Herald was a pressbook insert meant to be removed and is evenly aged. VF. Herald for 1956's "Forbidden Planet" measures 11.5x17-3/8" and features classic image of Robby the Robot on front. Herald opens to 17-3/8x22.75" and features movie poster images w/scenes from the film and promo text. Blank back has "Allen Park Theatre" imprint w/art of Robby the Robot holding woman and "Don't Miss It! The Most Amazing & Factual Science Fiction Film Ever Made" text. Horizontal fold at center as sold to theater (they were also distributed w/pressbooks) but this version is rare. Herald is evenly aged and fragile newsprint has two archival tape repairs to inside of fold. VG overall, but still nice for display.
