Item Description
21.75x35.25" thin cardboard poster for Sam Cooke tribute concert that took place Aug. 21, 1965 (Cooke died Dec. 11, 1964) at Carr's Beach (a segregated beach) in Annapolis, MD. Concert was touted as "A Memorial To Sam Cooke" and featured Doo-Wop group Shep and The Limelites, "Brother Of The Late Sam Cooke" L.C. Cooke, Little Sonny Warner, The Soul Sisters, Johnny "'Guitar'" Taylor, "Mr. Rhythm" Gene Burks and "The World Famous" Upsetters Band. Poster features photos of all acts as well as MC Benny Jefferson. Printed by Globe Poster of Baltimore, MD. Poster shows obvious wear w/scattered moisture staining and dust soiling, though this blends somewhat and still displays nicely as the vibrant dayglo orange directs your attention away from issues. Top margin has .75" and .25x1" staple pulls at corners, bottom corners having .25" to .5" holes/pulls. VG overall. Rare.
