Item Description
4.75x5.5x3-7/8" tall wooden box w/hinged lid once contained "Yellow Kid" cigars. c. 1896. Unlike most Yellow Kid cigars boxes that featured applied paper labels, this box's lid has had "Yellow Kid" name and full body image of the Yellow Kid stamped into wood's surface on top and underside of lid. Additional printed "Yellow Kid" name on front and right side panels of box. Underside has printed "Factory No 157 - 23rd. Dist Pa" text and trace remnants of original paper label, but this shows obvious wear w/most missing. Front edge of lid has .25x2.5" sliver off underside. This blends somewhat. Fine overall. Rare variety and first we've offered in our 48 years.
