Lot of four. Each box base measures 5.5x5.5x5.5" tall. Figures on top stand 5.75" to 8" tall and have been carved out of wood and hand-painted by the artist, whose signature/initials appears burned into bottom inside of boxes. These brightly painted boxes  are made completely of wood including hinges and tiny dowel pegs used in their construction. 3.5" wide carved plaque appears on each box front w/"Little Nemo In Slumberland - Winsor McCay" along w/character names - Nemo, The Imp, Flip, Dr. Pill. Each character is hand-crafted and hand-painted modern folk art w/intricate detailing to face, hands, hair, clothes, etc. Great care was taken in painting each. Each box is hinged in the back and has a latch in the front to accommodate a lock. Some scattered dust soiling (most noticeable to Imp's hair) but o/w Exc. Most likely one-of-a-kind creations. The only set we've seen, these were originally offered by us in our May 2007 auction, where they sold for $2,400.
