Item Description
Pair of 10x12" sheets of animation paper w/art created for or to promote the 1938 Mickey Mouse animated short "The Brave Little Tailor." First sheet features 6.25x7" concept art attributed to Hank Porter done in blue and lead pencil showing preliminary design for poster art that very closely matches the finished art used on the one-sheet movie poster. Main image shows Mickey trying hard to keep his balance while standing w/one foot on the fingertip of the giant (whose ear and eyes can be seen at left). Sheet has horizontal crease at center and 1" strip of darker aging along right margin. Rest of sheet is lightly aged and has some lt. handling wear. Fine overall, but main image remains Exc. Comes w/sheet w/6x7.75" image area showing surprised King sitting on throne in lead pencil w/additional red pencil accents. Bottom half of image has a few red pencil production notations. Sheet has lt. margin aging, o/w art is Exc. This cartoon was one of the most expensive made during its day, and was nominated for an Academy Award.
