Item Description
c. 1937-early 1938. Larger art board has applied thin art board comic strip art in three pieces in center w/3.75x17.75” India ink image area w/applied screen-tone dot pattern shading. Six panels for untitled strip (which is actually “Fact Finders”, aka “Bud ‘n Bub”) have twin boys and professor type flying around world in “Rocket-plane” noting interesting facts. They fly home after one hour. Art is signed “Kressy” in ink in last panel. Margins of larger art board have pencil notes by the artist. Image area has lt. dust soil, otherwise near Fine. Ed Kressy (1902-1986) began drawing “The Lone Ranger” comic strip w/the very first daily Sept. 11, 1938 and continued into 1939 when Charles Flanders became the main artist. Kressy also did art in Golden Age comics including “Power Nelson” in “Feature Comics”, “K-7” and “Sky Wizard” for Hillman, and layouts in 1943 for Dick Sprang on Batman in “Detective Comics”. Reverse side has ink stamp and signature from early original art collector Murray Harris. All Kressy original strip art is rarely seen. A well-drawn example.
