Item Description
4.5x18-1/8" thin artboard has original India ink art in four panels for Oct. 3, 1938 daily strip. Art by "Bringing Up Father" creator George McManus, who has signed last panel. Strip features Maggie giving little girl a pop gun in first panel. Jiggs, who is relaxing w/a cigar is startled in second panel by loud "Pop." Third panel shows him in doorway looking on w/startled look on his face as little girl fires pop gun at Fifi the dog. Last panel shows Jiggs walking away, saying "I Should Have Known It Wasn't What I Thought It Was." Second panel has King Features Syndicate copyright paste-over strip. Little girl's dress, Jiggs' undershirt and socks as well as his chair and outside view have some glue staining from shading accents that have fallen off over the years. Right margin has .25" to .5" streak of moisture staining, slightly affecting artist's signature. Fine overall, though majority of art remains VF.
