Item Description
3.5x5.5". Four players in uniform are shown w/Wells at the far left. Dates to 1943, the only year he played for this team. Reverse is unused. Wells was a shortstop in the Negro Leagues from 1924-1948 playing for many teams including Homestead Grays, Newark Eagles, New York Black Yankees and St. Louis Stars (during which the team won three pennants in a four year period). He ranks among the all-time Negro League leaders in doubles, triples, home runs and stolen bases. Wells was inducted into the HOF in 1997. Moderate aging to both sides. Additional corner tip wear w/some small surface paper flakes to border. Image is still distinct. VG. Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
