Item Description
Original 7-7/8x10" glossy. Shows Wilmer Fields, Bob Thurman and Garnett Blair full figure in Grays uniforms standing on a ball field. Reverse has "McNeill News Photo Service" address ink stamp and publication notations including "Sports Week Aug. 22." Front has their last names faintly inked on lower bodies. Scattered creases mostly only visible in reflected light. Corner tip wear w/some tape stains and small surface paper flakes. Photo remains glossy and image is bold. VG. Thurman went on to play in the Major Leagues for the Reds 1955-1959. Fields had a long career as a baseball player in the Negro Leagues as well as a number of Latin America Leagues, playing from 1940 to 1958. He won the MVP award in several leagues and won the Negro League World Series in 1948 w/the Grays. Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
