Item Description
Large and impressive 13x15.5" nice quality silver gelatin photo mounted to larger 16x20" original cardboard mount as issued. Large title at center, text at bottom reading "Copyright 1906 By HC Weasner" along w/Buffalo address. Featured are 124 players in uniforms around center photos of the league's eight team managers all wearing suits. This includes Hugh Jennings for the Baltimore Orioles, Ed Barrow (later President of the league) for the Toronto Maple Leafs and Jack Dunn of the Providence Grays. This was a Class A league. Mount has margin wear w/corner pieces missing and a 1" margin tear, VG. However, the photo itself only shows slightest aging and is clean w/sharp and bold images. Exc. Jennings, an early star in the Major Leagues also found success later on as both a manager and coach, winning two World Series w/the NY Giants in 1921 and 1922. Barrow served as business manager of the New York Yankees from 1921-1939 and as team president from 1939-1945, and is credited with building the Yankee dynasty. This is one of the earliest known professional baseball images of him. In addition to these two HOFers, Dunn has his place in baseball history as well and is noted as signing Babe Ruth to his first professional baseball contract.
